Back to Rockport, TX

From Lake Livingston State Park to La Grange, Texas last Sunday, the 5th.  We found a really nice RV park -- cute little town, too.  One of those communities where the large oaks growing where the neighborhood street was planned didn't interfere, but were allowed to continue to grow through the asphalt!  Certainly made for lovely shaded streets.
Ken and I went out for leisurely stroll about the town and thought the architecture of the County Jailhouse-turned Chamber of Commerce was interesting.  (They even left the bars on the windows!)  A frontal view of the building is below, and if I really knew how to work this website, I would have both photos side-by-side.  (Don't give up on me -- I'll work at it till I get it figured out!)  The County Courthouse is of similar architectural style, and looks so neat, sitting on the town square.
We had drop-in guests that evening when Cindy, Scott and the girls came by on their way to Huntsville, Sam Houston University.  Cindy was scheduled for an interview the following morning regarding acceptance into a doctoral program.  They stayed for supper, and Ken and I suggested they leave the girls with us for the night.  There didn't seem to be an urgent need for them to travel on and wait in a motel room while Mom did her interview, so the idea was met  favorably by all!

The RV park had a nice play area for kids, and it didn't take Katrina and Natalie long to locate the tire-swing!Of course, for both to be on the tire-swing, it seemed to them to be a good idea for them to have Mom give them a push!  Or was she trying to climb on, too?

After supper, and departure of the parents, we took the girls for a walk along the Colorado River, just behind our campsite.  When we returned, it had become dusk and the fireflies were out, so the girls took the opportunity to catch a few.  (They did turn them loose before the evening was over).  The following morning, we hooked up the trailer (with its running-to-warm-not-cold, refrigerator) and drove on to Rockport.  Cindy and Scott came by in time for supper, visited a little, then bundled up the girls and drove on back to Weslaco.

The following day, a technician came out to check the 'fridge (and concluded there was a problem!--Duh!), and set it up for a test.  It took until Friday, late morning, before it was confirmed with the manufacturer there really was a problem, but they agreed to send out a new control board, as a start to possibly righting the situation.  When asked it could be sent out via overnight mail, they reluctantly agreed.  However,  since it was already noon (EDT), they didn't think they could process the order before Monday (the 13th).  After all, customer service is how the company defines it, right?  So now it will be Tuesday, I am sure before it even gets installed.  Can't fault the technician -- he is doing all he can, but it certainly gives one pause before recommending the maker of the appliance.
