On The Road -- At Last!

At last, at last -- we were finally able to hit the road on July 13 -- that is only like a 60-day delay, but not a problem!  The beauty of this lifestyle is that is it easy to change one's plans and still have fun!

We headed north out of Weslaco on a steamy morning and returned to La Grange, to the pretty little RV park next to the river that we so enjoyed.  We only stayed overnight, so other than an early evening walk about the town, we didn't take time to see any of the local attractions.  From La Grange we drove to Tyler, again for only overnight.  We had a terrific downpour of rain, (30 minutes, or so) which cooled off the temperature a little but exposed a slight leakage problem.  When the satellite dish was installed on the trailer it was connected to the inside wiring provided.  However, it seems the rain found a way to slide right down the wires and into the overhead speaker in the bedroom.  A little caulking job the next morning and all was well!
On the road, off to Shreveport, LA -- watch out mudbugs, here we come!  (For those of you not familiar with this term, in the northwest we would call them crawdads, but don't you dare do that here.)  "Crawfish" is acceptable, as is "mudbugs".  Boil them up with some great Cajun spices, along with some red potatoes and corn on the cob and let the gastromical feast begin!  (The same method works great with large shrimp.)
Shreveport has probably THE largest outlet mall in the country.  It covers several blocks along the Red River and is so neat.  It is anchored at one end with a Bass Pro Shop (complete with a pond of alligators near the front entrance), and all sorts of shops, theaters and art venues along the riverfront.
